Dear Nigerians & Humans of the World,
Today is a significant day globally as we commemorate the 2023 International Day of the Girl Child when communities, organizations, and individuals worldwide join hands to reflect on and celebrate the extraordinary potential, strength, and leadership of girls. Under the theme "Invest in Girls' Rights: Our Leadership, Our Well-being," this year’s celebration emphasizes the significance of empowering girls, advocating for their rights, and ensuring their overall well-being.
The International Day of the Girl Child celebrated annually on October 11th, stands as a testament to the ongoing efforts to address the challenges faced by girls globally while promoting their empowerment and equality.
This year’s theme underscores the crucial role that investing in girls' rights plays in shaping a better future for everyone.
At GOALPrime Organization Nigeria (GPON), we recognize the pivotal role girls play in shaping a better future for themselves and their communities. Over the years, we have been intentional about rolling out interventions aimed at investing in girls' rights. We do not only empower them as individuals but also contribute to the development of more equitable and prosperous societies where women and girls are safe, protected, and empowered as enshrined in our Vision and Mission statements. This is because we strongly believe that Empowered girls grow into confident women who contribute significantly to the progress of society.
Girls have immense potential to shape societies, lead change, and contribute significantly to social and economic development. By investing in their rights, we empower them to become leaders of tomorrow, driving progress and innovation in various fields. “Through education, mentorship, and equal opportunities, girls can break barriers, challenge stereotypes, and make a lasting impact on the world.”
The International Day of the Girl Child serves as a platform to advocate for gender equality and inclusivity in all aspects of life. By dismantling societal norms that hinder girls' progress, we create a more just and equitable world. This includes addressing issues such as access to healthcare, nutrition, mental health support, and protection from violence and discrimination. When girls are healthy, protected, safe, and supported, they can focus on their education and personal growth, leading to a brighter and more promising future.
This year's celebration is a call to action. The GOALPrime family therefore urge governments, organizations, and individuals to invest in initiatives that promote girls' rights, provide them with quality education, and create an environment where their voices are heard and respected. By doing so, we not only transform the lives of individuals but our communities as well.
GOALPrime Organization Nigeria (GPON) remains committed to championing the rights of girls and young women locally and globally. Through our various programs and initiatives, we provide educational resources, mentorship, and skill-building opportunities to empower girls to become leaders in their communities. We advocate for policies that promote gender equality, support girls’ education, and eradicate harmful practices such as child marriage and female genital mutilation.
In line with GOALPrime Organization Nigeria’s vision for a better world for children, women, and caregivers, lies our continuous support to empower girls and support their rights. You can contribute by volunteering, donating, or simply spreading awareness about the importance of investing in girls. “Together, we can create a world where every girl child could thrive, lead, and succeed.”
I believe in the power of advocacy to drive change. I hereby call on governments, organizations, and individuals to invest in girls' rights by supporting education, providing healthcare, protection and creating safe spaces for them to thrive.
“By implementing and enforcing policies that promote gender equality, we pave the way for a future where every girl can dream without limitations and achieve her goals.”
A Better Humanity is Possible.
Be Intentional!
