A Better Humanity is Possible

GOALPrime Organisation Nigeria (GPON) Advocacy approaches include strategic and deliberate efforts to influence policies, practices, and decisions at various levels—locally and nationally. The essence is to promote positive change in line with the GPON's humanitarian objectives. Advocacy is a key component of GPON objectives as it aims to address the root causes of crises, alleviate suffering, and uphold the rights and dignity of affected populations.

 

Key aspects of GPON’s advocacy includes policy Influencing, public awareness and education, human rights and protection, resource mobilization, partnership building, coordination and networking and community engagement among several others.

 

For instance, in 2022, GPON reached 18,274 conflict-affected people living in camps and host communities across Mafa, Kala Balge, MMC, Jere, Geidam, and Yola South, LGAs of the Brono Adamawa and Yobe States with hygiene promotion sensitization activities via a door-to-door approach. 850,000 individuals were reached via mega speaker advocacy campaign and motorized mass campaigns using the Northeast WASH-in-Emergencies Sector approved jingles. GPON equally, supported the production of Information Education Communication materials and jingles for risk communication, especially during the cholera outbreak in MMC, Jere, and Mafa LGAs of Borno state. Partners and government agencies received the IEC products through the WASH Common Pipelines for advocacy and promotion in camps and communities which helped to generate and sustain momentum of good hygiene practices. The IEC Materials and jungles were of different local languages vis-a-vis Hausa, Kanuari, Fulfulde, shuwa arab and English.

 

GPON’s advocacy continues to be driven by the principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, and independence. By advocating for positive change, GPON seeks to improve the overall well-being and protection of communities affected by crises.
